Review: First off I want to say that I really loved this movie. While I like queer cinema, I have to admit most gay movies are just plain bad. Most of the times its the acting, sometimes its the script, and then other times its either too campy and over the top or too slow and morose. One thing though about gay movies though, is that there is never a shortage of hot men/women, and in this respect this move was right on par.
This movie was a completely pleasant surprise for me. The movie was wonderfully paced, the acting was great, the guys were hot, and lo and behold, there was actually plot in the movie. This movie has just the right amount of camp and humor without making a fool of itself while at the same time being an endearing story of love, acceptance, and fighting for the things you love. This was a movie that moved the viewer without making them need to take a Prozac. At the end of the movie, the wrap up of the plot and story left me feeling happy and, I'll admit, a bit warm inside.
I definitely recommend this movie to anyone that either likes queer cinema or just plain good cinema. It can also be conveniently watched on Netflix via Instant Play. If that isn't enough incentive, then how about this slightly spoilery bit of goodness: there is a love scene, and a very tastefully done love scene at that.
Go, watch, and let me know what you think! If you've already seen this movie, then let me know what you thought about it anyways.
